Happy Christmas--- oops I mean Thanksgiving!

Hello dearies!

I can't help but feel bad for Thanksgiving. . . . It seems that we have just skipped over it this year. :( I mean every store I go into was wall to wall Christmas decorations on Nov. 1st! Seriously?! I know that many people go shopping early for presents, but that is no excuse to skip over such a great holiday full of traditions. I personally love the turkey crafts and indian/pilgrim outfits that come along with "Turkey Day".

By this rant, I do not mean to say that I not guilty of this myself, but instead I want to point out how sad it is that Thanksgiving is forgotten.

OK, done with my rant.

Well, I decided to make my crafty blog! It is: http://craftswiththeladyinpink.blogspot.com/

I have not been able to post much yet, but am working on a new one right now :) I hope you enjoy!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Crafty blog

Hello again!
SOO. . I am totally inspired by my new blog template & am even considering starting another blog. What do you think? I am thinking about naming it "Crafts with the Lady in Pink". In this blog, I will put up pictures of my old and new craft projects (I have tons. It IS my favorite pasttime. . ) & even some tutorials. I would also post links to other great crafty bloggers and answer any questions that come my way.
Should I do it??

Patience

Hello friends!

I know this blog is WAY overdue (my apologies!) But, in my defense, life has changed so drastically since my last post. SOOO. . . here is my life (aka the past 6 months) in 6 points:

1. I LOVED my internship at the American Cancer Society! I learned so many valuable things and now know that I definitely picked the right field of work for me. I was also blessed to meet so many people during that time that have helped me in so many ways. the ladies at the office were so welcoming and helped me with much more than they had to. . (for example: actually doing everything I learned in college)

2. I miss Bowling Green. I moved back to Nashville in August & I love my hometown and being around family and friends, but I was no where near prepared for really leaving college. For 4 years, I built up a life that I basically left cold turkey. no fun :( I know I have a great life ahead of me, but I have never been someone that is good with change & it was ALOT of change all at once.

3. Well, while I do not have a "big girl" job, yet. . . I am still trying. (I blame the economy.) Don't worry, though. I am still VERY hopeful! I know that there is a great job coming up in my future, I just have to be PATIENT & wait for it to come around. (easy enough, right? HA) But, in the meantime, I am working at Barnes & Noble. <-- perfect job for an English nerd like me :)

4. FALL! I. love. Fall. (& everything associated with it!) so, naturally, my mood has brightened lately! Why do I love fall? Let me list the ways: the colors, football games, bonfires, hayrides, pumpkin patch, Homecoming, pumpkin carving, BEST WEATHER EVER, Octobrfest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, SCARFS!!, boots, layers of clothing, & decorating for the season!

5. Okay, soo this has been the year of weddings! I have gone to, been invited to, and been in weddings this year. I feel so lucky to be close to so many wonderful people & be able to share in their special day!

6. Well. . . you guys know I LOVE pictures, so for my last point I am sharing some of my favorites from lately!

This is from the Luminaria service at one of the Relay for Life events during my internnship.

Do you like my pumpkin? I had so much fun carving it. Go Phi Mu!

For Halloween, I helped out with a trunk or treat. This was my car :) {I was a pig, too!}

As you know, I am a crafty person & I saw some ornaments like this on Pinterest. . so of course, I had to make own!

BINGO! I thought Bingo was an easy going game. . WRONG! But it was soo much fun!

Well. . . That's all folks! ha. talk to you soon!

Oh, Summertime. . .. .

Hi friends!

Alot has changed since the last time I posted! (graduation, going alum, beginning my internship) I am quickly learning that the search for a real world "big girl job" is tough. Luckily, I am interning with the American Cancer Society this summer, so I am not just sitting around wasting time :)

[Sorry this is so short, but I promise a longer, more interesting post will be coming soon!]

FEELS LIKE HΦME

I am full of so many emotions right now! I am: 1.happy that GREEK WEEK 2011 is coming up soon! 2. sad that I only have 44 days until Graduation (& even worse. . . . 34 days until 3D) 3. nervous about the future. 4. EXCITED about the future! I can't even explain all of the other emotions. . . . I would try, but would most likely fail. SOOOOOO. . .. .I decided to channel my energy into making a list of some great quotes! (If you have any more, LET ME KNOW! I looove quotes & want to hear them)

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides" -- Audrey Hepburn

"Dancing is just a conversation between two people. Talk to me." --Hope Floats

"Phi Mu ladies are the light to my darkening life" - Gen. Robert E. Lee

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections."

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Southern girls are God's gift to the entire male population. There is absolutely no woman finer than one raised below the Mason-Dixon line. And once you go Southern, may the good Lord help you, you never go back." -- Kenny Chesney

"Today we salute you, sisters of Phi Mu. You are the true example of what a woman should be. With a closet full of pink and the best spirit around, you carry with you the second oldest history to all greek women. You are a true goddess, with your pink boa always at hand. You know the true secret to being beautiful- having fun. Rather than worrying about what other girls are saying about you, you show that you have better things to do with your time. Every girl wants to be you, every man wants to date you. With your Phi Mu values at heart, and that splendid southern charm, you set the bar for all the rest."

More to come soon! Love you dearies! :)

TOMS!

I want a pair of TOMS shoes SOOOOO badly! I just can't decide what color to get!

I kind of want the Ash Gray ones. This way, they would match almost everything pretty well, but also won't show too much dirt.

I am also thinking about a colored pair, though. Maybe the Navy ones or the Olive Canvas ones.

Any ideas? I am so torn on which ones to get!

Lions, Quatrefoils, and Pink. . . . OH MY!

As you know, I am a proud member of Phi Mu Fraternity for Women. I love finding our symbols out where ever I go. So, I decided to share some of the spottings here with you!

First, I will remind you what our symbols are:

The LION! (you can get this picture at Walmart.)

The Quatrefoil! (I LOVE this mirror! You can get it @ Lowes.)

The Rose Carnation! (obviously these are fake, but pretty nonetheless!)

This Shower curtain (& the entire bathrrom set that matches) can be found at Walmart.

This was a child's valentine box full of chocolates. (once again @ Walmart.)

These cookies were GOOD, but even better was the Quatrefoil on the side :)

Rainy Day Blues

A good rainy day is spent curled up on the couch with a good movie/book, a bowl of soup, and hopefully some good friends to share it with. Sadly, my rainy days are never spent that way. Yesterday, I spent all morning working on my papers for one class. (Ok not so bad to start out, but just wait. . .) When I go to leave, I realize my umbrella is in the back of my roommate's car. She already left for school. (Now, it is getting good) So, I run out to the car and drive to school. Upon arriving, I realize that the papers I spent all morning on are still sitting on the table in my room. Normally, I would take the grief and turn them in late since I was already running late (& the downpour rain!), but this was workshop day. On workshop day, if you do not have your papers, you are counted absent. So, I turn the car around & get the papers. I get out of my car and realize that the bus to the top of the hill is already here. . . so I run. I walked into my class right as it is starting. (Crisis averded) This class got out early so I went and sat in front of my next classroom.(FINALLY things are looking up!) I pull out my book to catch up on the reading I didn't do. My book for this class is a two volume set. Yesterday, we started work in volume b. I had volume a with me. (dum dum dum) So I sat through class without knowing what we were talking about at all. Finally, class is over & the weekend has begun. (no Friday classes! yay!) The only thing seperating me from the joys of a few days without classes is the walk down the hill in the pouring rain without an umbrella. By the time I got to my car, every inch of my body (& my bag) are soaked.
The best thing about my last rainy day, is that it is over! I think Jo Dee Messina describes my feelings best in her song "Bring On the Rain".

"I've heard that it's possible to grow up - I've just never met anyone who's actually done it." - Meredith Grey

Growing up is scary.

I have been putting the thoughts of graduating, getting my first 'Big Girl' job, and saying goodbye to the life I have come to love in college. I was doing so well at putting it aside by focusing on other things, but the time has come for me to accept the changes that are close. For now, I am taking things one step at a time, while still grabbing on to fun and youth I can still enjoy.
SOOOO. . . I have decided to pick up a new hobby (since making sorority related crafts after graduation is not cool.) I have decided to take up cake decorating! I am so excited! I love arts & crafts, so I feel like I could be good at this. I have a long way to go, though. I have to get the utensils needed and start practicing. But, I have been reading up on different techniques. Not only do I need to get the tools for decorating, but I also need to find people to eat the cakes! ha I am going to get one if the 6" pans, so that my trials are small, but I DEFINITELY DO NOT need to be eating lots of cake!
Well, that is about all for now. . . Playing in the snow & a girl's night out is calling my name. :)
